Sustenance in the Broadest Contexts

Author: Max

I am a multi-disciplinary wildly-scattered scholar of life. I was a high school dropout who never got a diploma, but through luck and some degree of tenacity acquired the PhD in Latin American Studies from Tulane University. I have conflicting passions for justice and self-indulgence, for elegance and base living, for reverence and blasphemy, and for love and solitude. Soon to celebrate my 70th anniversary of life, I while away my time as a consultant to social development projects in Guatemala, and as a consultant to social workers in Upstate New York. My routine pleasures are reading, gardening, cooking, eating, and traveling, and my greatest thrill is to discover information that shifts the shape of my comfortable paradigms and challenges the boundaries of my reality. I am naive and wide-eyed but also a jaded cynic, an occasional prince of gullibility and a constant skeptic, I am humble but annoyingly arrogant ... and convinced of very little other than that knowledge and confidence are usually ill-founded.
